The Proverbs Project: Day 8

Karen Cecilia

Proverbs 8:6

Listen, for I have trustworthy things to say; I open my lips to speak what is right.

Proverbs 8:22-23

The Lord brought me forth as the first of his works, before his deeds of old; I was formed long ages ago, at the very beginning, when the world came to be.

Observation & Application:

God is wise and his wisdom is trustworthy.

When we look at the world: at the cosmos, the oceans, the mountains, atoms, molecules and the great wonders of the deep, we look at God’s handiwork. Sometimes we focus so much on the creative beauty of it that we overlook the scientific perfection that took wisdom to undertake. The Earth rotates at just the right axis and orbits just the right way to allow us to have a habitable environment. Think of the tide flowing in and out, high and low. God brought forth wisdom, or employed wisdom in everything he’s done and made and he offers us that same wisdom to lead our lives. We don’t have to lean on our own shoddy understanding. We can trust his wisdom and build our lives on it. We may not always understand his ways, but we can always trust his wisdom to be right.

Father, thank you for your wisdom that you constantly offer us. Thank you that you set the example for us of what your wisdom can lead us to do. Help us to trust it, even when we don’t understand and to understand that it is right. Help us to hear your voice leading us on in wisdom and to apply it to our lives. In Jesus name, amen.
